Our Customer Showcase from around the World

Over the years, StoneAge has sold thousands of Shona Sculptures and hundreds that we have shipped around the world. Our customers have been kind enough to send us photographs of their sculptures in their homes and the following photographs are a testament to their good taste in art and in interior design.

Jean-Jacques, Villepreux, France

‘Coming from the Market’ carved from Lemon Opalstone by Lazarus Tandi. Jean-Jacques phoned us two months after visiting StoneAge and told us that he couldn’t get this sculpture out of his mind.

We shipped it to him in France and he had a stone base made which shows off this wonderful piece to perfection. The natural light highlights the beautiful colouring of the Lemon Opalstone and the overall effect in the room is amazing.

Shelley, Los Angeles, California, USA

This beautiful Springstone creation carved from Springstone by Benjamin Mundara, is shown-off to perfection against the natural wood of the bookshelves and table.

The focal point that this piece creates, enhances the study space and draws the eye to the very comfortable chair where an avid reader can feel very much at home.

Allison and Gerda, Waxhaw, North Carolina, USA

Allison and Gerda are repeat customers who come into StoneAge every time they visit Vancouver. We always look forward to helping them select sculptures for their growing Shona sculpture collection.

Anthony, West Vancouver, BC, Canada

Anthony is an avid collector of sculpture from around the world. He is the proud owner of two pieces from StoneAge. To the right is ‘Modern Woman’ carved from Lemon Opalstone by Tendai Rukodzi. This sculpture is displayed in his Living Room and wonderfully utilizes the natural light streaming in through the corner windows.

To the left is ‘Independent Leader’ carved from Springstone by Michael Nyakusvora. This sculpture is situated in his Home Office and the dark colour of the polished Springstone goes well with the rich tones of the wood paneling.

Ken and Sue, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Ken and Sue also have a few pieces form StoneAge The Opalstone sculpture on the table is entitled ‘Young Love’ and is carved from Fruit Serpentine by Noel Mwanza.

Ken and Sue have art from around the world and the typical Shona Sculpture style represented by this sculpture perfectly complements their other art pieces.

Heather and Craig, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

‘Love under the Moon’ is carved from Opalstone by Solomon Panda. This beautiful large piece provides a fantastic focal point for the room with the vertical lines of the wall behind, accentuating its height.

The dark granite top of the custom-made base contrasts nicely with the green of the Opalstone.

Tracey, Yaletown, Vancouver, Canada

Tracey’s graceful sculpture of a lady bending over washing her hair is beautifully displayed on an antique table in front of her balcony window.

Jake, City of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada

‘Affectionate Family’ is carved from Lemon Opalstone by Tereri Murambatvina. StoneAge donated this sculpture to a silent auction benefiting the Canadian Red Cross, ‘Seeing Red’ campaign setup to help people afflicted with aids in Zimbabwe.

We sincerely thank Jake for his winning bid!

This piece is beautifully displayed against the white wall which brings out the lovely green colour of the Lemon Opalstone.

Debora, City of Cotati, California, USA

‘Wildflower’ is carved by Tendai Mushawapwere from Springstone. This beautifully balanced abstract from Tendai is well-framed by the straight lines of the curtains and table and is a beautiful center of focus for the entire room.

The view through the window into the garden behind, links very well with the subject matter of the sculpture: ‘Wildflower’

Dick and Gay, Kitsilano, Vancouver, Canada

Dick and Gay are a wonderful couple whom we enjoyed getting to know better. Their hospitality while delivering their sculpture was much appreciated.

In their penthouse suite, they display their ‘Lovers’ sculpture on a dividing wall to maximize the impact of the piece from all angles. As with most of our sculptures, this piece is enjoyable from all sides, particularly this style which is one that the Shona Sculptors of Zimbabwe are well-known for.

Bill, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

‘Water Pourer’ carved from Cobalt by Kudakwashe Kapuyanyika. This sculpture has wonderful movement in the flowing water and the Oak wood pedestal beautifully complements the brown colouring in the Cobalt – Both natural products build off each other perfectly.

By raising ‘Water Pourer’ off the floor on a base, Bill has considerably increased the impact of the sculpture and given it the respect, it deserves.

George and Mike, Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

A beautiful garden setting shows off this sculpture, ‘Lovers’ carved from Springstone by Benjamin Mundara.

This piece is positioned at bottom of the steps leading to the front door of this beautiful heritage home in Downtown Vancouver. George jokingly told us that we were to make sure that their friends knew that he and Mike were NOT the models for this sculpture!!
